Social media in political communication

Today’s guest speaker, Alicia Pierce, is the director of communications for the Office of the Texas Secretary of State, where she has worked for more than two years. She has also worked as press secretary and legislative assistant to two Texas senators and in several federal communications jobs. She is a 2002 graduate of ACU with a degree in public relations and advertising.

She said she may discuss the way two Texas Supreme Court justices use social media for campaigning. Last week, the New York Times covered Justice Don Willett’s prolific use of Twitter. Texas Lawyer had an article last month about Justice Jeff Boyd’s effort to take photos of all county courthouses in Texas. Boyd is also an ACU alumnus.

Next week’s schedule: How-to presentations will continue (and conclude) on Monday. Please make sure to be here, especially if you haven’t yet given your presentation.
