This post is even more administrative than most of what I write, but it should provide you an update of what’s ahead. How-to presentations continue today, and most of you have a blog post to write by Sunday night; all of you have blog comments to make.
You should read Piskorski Chapter 5 for Monday, when we’ll begin discussing Facebook. The chapter compares Facebook to a Japanese platform called mixi, and the contrast should help you see Facebook a little more clearly. We will also start a new round of class contributions on Monday, meaning that anyone will be eligible to volunteer for daily questions again.
We will finish our discussion of data ethics today, focusing on informed consent as the difference between traditional research and the testing that many companies use with their online products.
